Mary Lou Grimmett
Mary Lou Upchurch Grimmett was born in Carrollton, Georgia to James and Wilma Upchurch.  She became a Christian at the age of nine while attending a revival at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica.  After graduation from Carrollton High School, Mary Lou attended Tift College, earning a degree in Elementary Education and Behavioral Science.  She later graduated from Southern Seminary with a degree in Religious Education.  In the spring of 1978, Mary Lou entered the US Army, and after attending Chaplain Assistant training, she served in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Hanau, Germany.  She has been employed with the Carrollton City Schools since 1989 until her recent retirement, serving as the After School Program Director and Records Manager.  Mary Lou has been married to Larry Grimmett since July 26, 1997.  They have three adult daughters:  Rebecca (Roby) Barrow, Melinda (Mark) Richardson, and Paula (Tim) Robinson; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Mary Lou is a fourth generation Deacon of Tabernacle Baptist Church, following her great-grandfather, J. M. Johnson; Shields Upchurch, her grandfather; and her father.  She currently teaches the Adult IV, Coed 1 Sunday School Class.  Her favorite scripture passages include Psalm 23, Jeremiah 29:11, Matthew 7:7-8, and Mark 12:29-31.
